Neurosculpting: A Whole-Brain Approach to Heal Trauma, Rewrite Limiting Beliefs, and Find Wholeness
by Lisa Wimberger MA
Lisa Wimberger’s second book, NEUROSCULPTING A Whole-Brain Approach to Heal Trauma, Rewrite Limiting Beliefs, and Find Wholeness, signals Paradigm Change in the intersections of Brain Mapping, Behavior, and Meditation In the Thomas Kuhn sense of paradigm shifting the way we approach our understanding of reality, in this case ourselves, This is a major significant and historical achievement! Let me explain why this so important: As a student who studied hypnosis with the late Milton H. Erickson, and founded the second Erickson Institute of Hypnosis and 0f Behavioral Sciences,
i was supremely impressed by the contributions that a new way of using the mind could make in personal evolution. Dr Erickson’s heritage continues as thousands of therapists gather every year at the Erickson Foundation’s conferences (the biggest had over 7000 attendees, a landmark achievement.)
Bandler and Grinder, with their Neurolinguistic Programming provided another twist in our perspectives of how to use the approaches of Dr. Erickson and Virginia Satir, and spawned a whole generation of trainers who innovated communication, persusasion , and behavior modification skills that were newly empowered. I believe Lisa’s work is another major paradigm shift that will change the entire field of how we teach people to manage stress, increase creativity, function as a whole person and and enjoy our lives!
Lisa’s work steps to the front of the line in mind/body training because it sources the wisdom of the new brain mapping research, ancient techniques of shamanism and psychic functioning, and meditation. Her relaxed rhythm and flow of teaching new skills based on this ancient and modern flow come from her deep musical and dance skills, as well a new perspective based on personal experience of managing her own death and brain optimization experiences.
Her background is unique in mind/body training: "Lisa began her meditation practice at age 12. Hit by lightning at age 15, and clinically dead on multiple occasions, Lisa uses her traumatic experience as a vehicle for transformation. Lisa studied Ascension training for four years with Ishaya monks. She completed four years of psychic awareness training, applying the tools of the Berkeley Psychic Institute, and is trained in Autogenic Hypnosis. Lisa is the Founder of the Trance Personnel Consulting Group and Ripple Effect, LLC. She has created and facilitated leadership trainings for executive teams in Fortune 500 companies, the Colorado Department of Health Care and worked individually with international management. She has created and facilitated Emotional Survival programs for Colorado Law Enforcement Agencies and peer counsel groups”.
Following the pathways of her mentors, a neurosurgeon and noted shaman, Lisa integrates technical research with intuitive skill and the grace of an artist of living skills. Her book is a report back from the FRONT, and all is not quiet there. The turbulence and disquiet of modern life, our constantly changing personal physiology and brain states and stress of modern life are confronted head on, but with heart, soul and wisdom. Time- tested meditation techniques, new pathways of brain functioning, and real life experiences on the edge of mayhem and death are presented in new ways that are immediately useful to the reader.
This fabulous sequel to he first excellent book, New Beliefs, New Brain: Free Yourself From Stress And Fear , is a manual for effective bio-social living that revealed in hands on fashion from the edges of hard science, deep soul, and creative expression. It is a gateway to the future of health, happiness and real change for those who pay attention to her lessons.
In my career I've had the privilege of spending time with Milton Erickson, Erik Erickson, Anna Freud, and many of the famous and infamous teachers at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur CA where I taught for a dozen years. Lisa Wimberger is a master in that vein, of a teacher come to share her transcendent learning and wisdom that is beyond the words in her book or her presence. This is a a survival guide to thriving in the information age, if we are not afraid to use the new knowledge from the Garden of Eden of cutting edge brain research now available. Integrating this research into practical recommendations for daily ritual, ceremony, nutrition and self help is a major achievement that will long be appreciated. Thank you Lisa!
